Compliance in Volatile Environments

Compliance in Volatile Environments

Tuesday, 14 July 2026 | 1:00 PM EST (6:00 PM BST)

This session will explore how regulatory and political volatility is reshaping compliance risk and why traditional approaches are no longer sufficient. It will focus on how companies can adapt their compliance programs to operate more effectively in environments where expectations are shifting quickly and unpredictably.

Key Themes

  • Instability as the Operating Environment: Compliance teams are increasingly managing risk in conditions where regulatory expectations, enforcement priorities, and political dynamics shift quickly and are not always consistent.
  • Where Traditional Approaches Fall Short: Many compliance programs rely on periodic risk assessments, fixed controls, and slower decision-making processes that are not designed for real time changes in risk.
  • Emerging Areas of Exposure: Topics such as sanctions, supply chain due diligence, and ESG related expectations are evolving rapidly, often creating uncertainty and conflicting guidance across jurisdictions.
  • Adapting Compliance Programs: Companies are beginning to move toward more dynamic approaches, including more frequent risk reassessment, stronger cross functional coordination, and faster escalation of emerging risks.
  • Operating Under Uncertainty: Compliance teams are increasingly required to make decisions without complete information or clear regulatory direction, requiring new approaches to risk management and internal alignment.

Participant Takeaways

  • A clearer understanding of how volatility is changing compliance risk.
  • Insight into where current compliance models may be misaligned.
  • Practical approaches for making compliance programs responsive.
  • Considerations for improving internal coordination and decision making.
