Code of Conduct Certification: Lessons Learned from Crafting an Engaging, Inclusive and Interactive Training

A follow on to the first session hosted by Mr. Smith in 2022, Code of Conduct Certification: Best Practices for Ensuring Employee Comprehension, Retention and Compliance, this webinar will share key lessons learned from the deployment of SNC-Lavalin’s highly-successful annual Code of Conduct Certification.
Walking attendees through key development aspects of the Certification course, Mr. Smith will explore topics including:
- Why gamification works and the psychology behind it
- Tips for embedding a “build your own adventure” feature into your training
- How to present communication around your code as a required training
- Accounting for culture changes and the impact on your training
- Accessibility and how to account for it in your training
Joining Mr. Smith, Blaise Stanicic, Senior Manager, Compliance Training, TRACE will discuss TRACE’s Code of Conduct “Plug & Play” Template which can be utilized by TRACE members to create their own in-house certification module. Ms. Stanicic will also take questions from the audience regarding TRACE compliance training benefits and offerings.

Paul Smith
Advisor / Conseiller – Communications & Training / Communications & Formation

Paul is a Training and Communications Advisor in the Integrity department of SNC-Lavalin.
A graduate in Mental Philosophy from Edinburgh University in 2002, Paul had an eclectic career as a chef, bookseller, barman, and voiceover artist, among many other things, before gaining certifications from Cambridge and diving into the world of adult education. A career in the language learning industry led to a role as a Director of Studies at an international language school where he could act on his passion for teaching teachers how to teach and learners how to learn.
For the past four years, he has been putting his pedagogical and writing skills to use in helping SNC-Lavalin foster a culture of integrity through the development of awareness campaigns, employee resources and training modules.
By creating content designed to reinforce and align the company values, demystify the various integrity controls and processes, and motivate a workforce to embrace a culture shift, Paul is proud to have helped shape the narrative of an organization as it evolves into a modern values-driven enterprise.
Originally from Scotland, Paul now lives and works in Quebec, Canada.
Blaise Stanicic
Senior Manager, Compliance Training
TRACE
Blaise has been working within the compliance landscape for close to a decade. Currently holding the role Senior Manager, Compliance Training & Accreditation, Blaise supports compliance training initiatives for hundreds of global multinational organizations.
Prior to her work with TRACE, Blaise was a lobbyist for the Maryland General Assembly for four years, reviewing such topics as budgetary issues, healthcare rules and regulations, and environmental and energy legislation.
Blaise has a Master's in Legislative Affairs from the George Washington University and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland from which she graduated with honors.
