The logistics and freight forwarding industry is particularly vulnerable to corruption given its constant engagement with customs officials, tight delivery schedules, customer demands to move goods quickly and the inspection and clearance of goods and other activities that create opportunities for bribe demands. During this session, hear from DHL Global Forwarding as you are provided with insight into the corruption and bribery risks faced by the logistics and freight forwarding industry and how to effectively address such risks in day-to-day operations particularly in times of global crisis when supply chains are under additional pressures.

Helena Teixeira

Regional Compliance & Data Protection Officer, Middle East and Africa
DHL Global Forwarding

Helena holds a law degree from the University of Lisbon and started working in compliance in 2008 at Siemens Portugal. During her time at Siemens, Helena was tasked with different international compliance related projects which took her to Siemens Russia, Brazil, Spain and later included a move to Germany to the Compliance Head Office. In 2014 a family move to South Africa lead to a new professional challenge, this time in the Oil & Gas industry as Ethics & Compliance Advisor for BP Sub-Sub-Saharan Africa business. After a break to embrace a busy and rewarding first year of motherhood, Helena is now the Regional Compliance Officer for DHL Global Forwarding for Middle East and Africa.
