The Serious and Organized Crime unit of the RCMP charged Larry Kushniruk under the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act. He is expected to make an appearance in court on 12 December 2016. Kushniruk faces up to 14 years of imprisonment. 

On 06 December 2017, it was reported that the charges of conspiracy to bribe foreign public officials were stayed and Kushniruk no longer faces charges.
